Part Two of the Struggledorks' Business Formula

As John says "Words and Numbers are Flow Creators".

The real Topic this week: "Symbols and Focus…. the Wealth Creators"

 

Starting with Symbols:

 

Have you ever had that experience of going into a department store to purchase a new pair of running shoes? You’re walking through the shoe section and you see two pairs of shoes. Both are identical; both with the great aerodynamic design, bridge support, plush insole and heel counters. 

 

You look at them both and say, "Wow, these are really nice shoes. I would love to run in these shoes." So you try them on. 

 

You put on the first pair and say, "Wow…. where is the marathon? I am ready to run until I drop. What great aerodynamic design, bridge support, plushy insole and heel counters. Everything I ever wanted in a shoe."

 

But for the sake of trying to find the best quality pair of running shoes you put on the other pair. You slip your feet in; and oh, wow! That exhilarating feeling of being able to run a marathon rushes upon you.

 

You say to yourself, "Well I'll be. This shoe has great aerodynamic design, bridge support, plushy insole and heel counters too. Simply amazing…. these two pair of shoes are almost identical. But now which one will I choose?"

 

So you go rummaging through the shoes for the Price tags and you see something which surprises you. "What is this?"

 

Pair of Shoes 1 is $120.00

Pair of Shoes 2 is $50.00 

 

This can't be right… they are the same shoes!!! But wait… you look down at Pair of Shoes 1.. There is a big Fancy Tick on the side of them.. Pair of Shoes 2 doesn’t have a tick on them. 

 

And then all of sudden, Pair of Shoes 1 becomes more fashionable, feels better, feels like higher quality material. You start to think, "Holy smokes, all my running buddies are going to be real impressed when they see me in these swish kicks with the Big Fancy Tick on them." 

 

Then you look at Pair of Shoes 2 with naught but disdain. You think, "Was I ever really going to buy these shoes?"

 

You throw Pair of Shoes 2 back to whence they came; and take Pair of Shoes 1 up to the register, with a big smile on your face. You don't even remember that there was a $70.00 difference between the shoes.

 

This is the Power of Symbols. The simple but Fancy Tick on the side of the shoes is how Brands Worldwide create their continual wealth. And whether it be a Tick, or an Apple, or Bulls-eye Target, it all comes down to the Power of the Symbol.

 

From John's experience, you get a real feel for the cost of poor Symbol use… $50,000.00 lost because of two letters. Tough lesson John, I'm happy to say I'm confident that Struggledork is a stronger Symbol then Kontrol-Teq.

 

And then there is FOCUS. 

 

I have always considered Focus like a Beam of Light in a pitch black room. If you disperse your Beam of Light across the pitch black room, everything is dim and barely visible. But when you focus your Beam of Light on individual spaces, that space is illuminated. As is the nature of Focus.

 

I'm sure every Struggledork has had the feeling of, "I have too much stuff to do, and not enough time." So what do we do? We try to do everything. And surprise, surprise not much happens. It’s only when we put our ducks in a line and go one at a time do we ever finish our list. This is the Power of Focus. 

 

As John says, "Follow One Course Until Completed". Do not defer, simply stay FOCUSED.

 

And finally the Formula: 

Time is the Deepest of all Calibrators.

Wealth is created by What Repeats or More Importantly… What doesn’t Repeat.

What does this means to me? 

 

Everything has patterns. From Humans, to Trees to Planets to Businesses, everything has patterns. The difference? Nature’s patterns have been refined over thousands and millions of years to suit the organism. 

 

The Business is a MAN MADE organism. This organism has not had the time to be refined to optimal design. It barely has time to take a breath before its back in the fray of Day-to-Day business.  You must find the Patterns that work for your Business or your Business will die. The ability to find the right Pattern and REPEAT is what creates Wealth. And how do we do this? 

 

By using Words and Numbers to Measure and Calibrate our effect over time. Finding out the bottom line effect. Then Using Symbols and Focus to hold these Patterns in check. 

 

These Key into John’s Formula:

 

Words and Numbers 

Multiplied by Symbols

Divided By Focus
