Book 2, Lesson 26

Words and Human Capability

Last week’s thinking was about strategy and tactics and my understanding and thinking on the idea of planning a business. I’m very clear that in a start-up business that has no history of

sp bullet point  “Buying / Selling”=1

it is a pointless waste of time to write a plan.  In my opinion, the only real thing that matters in the  start of a business is managing

sp bullet point   Cost

On a daily basis, remembering that cost is:

·    = Costs of:

o   Energy…. What do I do every day?

o   Space…. How and what was created every day?

o   Time….. Where do I spend my TIME each day?

o   Money…. When, Where, How, and Why did I use that MONEY?

·   = Time Calibrations of:

o   Point in Time….

§  When, How, Why, Where did an event start?

And

§  Who is the driving ENERGY of the EVENT?

And

§  What point in TIME did I measure the feedback that was collected?

And

§    When do I apply my feedback to create Momentum and Compounding- Effects?

o   Across Time…..

§  How is my start-up business working in the immediate market place?

§  What point in TIME  does the business become:

1.       VIABLE? (VIABILITY:  the ability of an event (a living organism, an artificial system, an idea) to maintain itself or realize full potentialities of any given event as it being the whole (The 1)).

2.       SUSTAINABLE? (SUSTAINABILITY: systems/processes of any event to endure and remain diverse and productive for long periods of “TIME”. Healthy and continuing Growing).

·    Now the business can start to plan for VIABILITY and SUSTAINABILITY  Measurements /Calibrations=1

o   Between Time, the importance of:

§  Quality of everything that the business does

§  Standards that the business creates

§  Disciplines that are managed everyday

§  What is the point of difference that adds the value in the business market place?

sp bullet point   Driver Timing is far more important than TIME!

When, Where, How, Why, Who, What

§  The everyday Vital Goal Set

§  Outcomes 90 days to 1 year

§  Long term Arrangements: what are the physical realities over 5-10 years?

sp bullet point   Planning early in a business causes more problems than providing solutions. In my opinion, a plan early will only create a –ve  (negative) space of reality. I have never…. not ever, seen a plan that is accurate in an early start-up or a mature business for the matter.  I’m not saying don’t plan…. What I’m really saying is a business entity must be able to:

1.       Think of what is the vitality of today

2.       Measure and think about what happened the day before

3.       Move towards successful outcomes – Move away from non-successful outcomes

4.       Decide to take risks on Omni-present realities on a daily basis.

sp bullet point   A plan early tends to hold a business to someone else’s reality of success by not having the objective thinking matching the subjective reality.

The first step in answering life’s questions involves getting a good grasp of the forces that shape what we can experience.  Whether we like it or not, each of us is constrained by limits on what

             “We Do, Feel  and Think

To ignore these limits leads to denial and eventually to Failure. To achieve Excellence, we must first understand the Reality of the Everyday, with all its Demands and Potential Frustrations. From Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. “Finding Flow”.

sp bullet point     The Cycles of Human lives:

1.         Rest and Recovery,

2.         Production and Meaning,

3.         Consumption and Replacement,

4.         Interaction and Relationships,

sp bullet point      Are all Cycles and are part of how

sp bullet point     We Humans Experience Life.

Subjectivity: is the condition of being a subject: i.e., the quality of possessing perspectives, experiences, feelings, beliefs, desires, and/or force/power. Subjectivity is used as an explanation for what influences and informs people's Judgments about Truth or Reality. From Wikipedia

It is the collection of the:

sp bullet point  Perceptions,

sp bullet point  Experiences,

sp bullet point  Expectations,

sp bullet point  Driven by Personal or Cultural Understanding, and Beliefs Specific to a Person (Your “ME”).

Subjectivity is an inherently social mode that comes about through innumerable interactions within society. As much as subjectivity is a process of individuation, it is equally a process of socialization, the individual never being isolated in a self-contained environment, but endlessly engaging in interaction with the surrounding world. Culture is a living totality of the subjectivity of any given society constantly undergoing Transformation. Subjectivity is both Shaped by a Human and Shapes SOCIETAL CURCUMSTANCE, also by other things like the

Objectivity: Generally, objectivity means the state or quality of being true even outside of a subject's individual biases, interpretations, feelings, and imaginings. A proposition is generally considered objectively true (to have objective truth) when its truth conditions are met and are "bias-free"; that is, existing without biases caused by, feelings, ideas, etc. of a sentient subject. A second, broader meaning of the term refers to the ability in any context to judge fairly, without bias or external influence. From Wikipedia

The central problem with the rationalist view of organizing people is that people are not very rational.

If our understanding of the current state of psychology is even close to correct,

Humans are the ultimate study in Conflict and Paradox. From Peters/Waterman.

It seems to “ME” that to understand why the excellent businesses are so effective in engendering both Commitment and Regular Innovation from tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of marketplace events/thoughts, we have to take into account the way “WE” deal with the following contradictions that are built into human nature/marketplace and the realities of objective and subjective thinking and why we the human/business make our decisions that move our processes of:

sp bullet point  WORDS: Leading Calibrators

sp bullet point   NUMBERS: Lagging Calibrators

sp bullet point  SYMBOLS: Space holders and
