This week, I will give you my business secret. I have a formula I use in all my designs of any system/process, business meeting, training, and even my day-to -day family life. 

 

R. Buckminster Fuller believed that we could get bigger and achieve bigger results while using less time, energy, and materials. His “more with less” philosophy, he believed, was the way for all humans to live and survive. One of his great lessons was that of patterns and repetition. He believed that things become habitual. There are patterns in the universe, and patterns created by our individual habits. 

How accurate is your understanding of what is going on?

Fuller would say that the "first human industrial design tool was communication".

 

 

Language is repeated over and over, differently formulated and yet all the same design.

Our voices and our hearing are an important design tool.

Passing information accurately together with using words to communicate is one of the most essential design tools.

 

My business design formula begins with

 

WORDS

 

“WORDS”….  “Leading Calibrator”

 

Words are Calibrations of who you are, where you are coming from and where you are going to.

Just listen to people’s words and you will hear what I mean.

Humans designed an accurate way of measuring our words.

“NUMBERS”

OR “Lagging Calibrator”

 

We Humans are always calibrating, based on the past happenings,

using Numbers to set-up the lagging Calibrations.

There is always lag between the calibrations.

 

We lead with a thought and lag with the actions of that thought.

Lag is always the time between.

Words express our thoughts and numbers measure the effect of the thoughts over time.

What I see is that in business design….. businesses use words, but haven’t combined them with numbers to measure the accuracy of their words.

 

 

Small business needs to understand that it is not a huge expense to improve words and numbers. It is a huge cost to every business venture on the planet that does not understand the design advantage.

“The ignorance of not understanding the power of words and numbers”……

Is a heavy weight to bear for any business.

When I started in business, I didn’t understand this at all.

I was operating in a “find work, do work, get paid” mentality.

 

 

I wasn’t passing information accurately or using numbers to measure how things were going.

I didn’t understand Fuller’s thinking.

I was having loads of fun, making no money and creating no future wealth.

Words and Numbers are very important design tools and act as calibrators. Combined with the most important of all calibrators, “Time”, they are the flow creators and ultimately they are what creates “Measurable Wealth”.

Creating “More with Less” Systems and Processes…. that = True Wealth
