Lesson 31

POWER TO COMPETE ON A SALE

I have been working in Columbia, South America talking and educating on Entrepreneurs/Business Owners. I have to say….. there is poor understanding of the subject. And Colombia is not an orphan in this. My experience is that there is definite misdirection in the matter of Entrepreneurs/Business Owners. I have listened now for too long to what I think is just stupid.

We have:

1.    Academics telling an Entrepreneur how to be an Entrepreneur, and;

2.    Entrepreneurs telling a Business Person how to run a business, then;

3.    Corporations pretending to be Businesses, and;

4.    Promoters telling Marketers how to market!!!!

And the game continues.

No wonder it is hard to make a sale. You have to navigate the B.S. of the market place.

When I was 20 years old, I a read a book by R.D. Laing called “Knots”. We as humans are tying ourselves in knots with poor definition of roles and then responsibility of the role, even though we are not held accountable to agreements made about the role. The knot gets bigger and slows down the human and the misdirection is made safe by stupidity.

Let’s untie the knot by giving definitions of the roles and words we use to describe the said role……

1.    Academic: Theoretical and not of any practical relevance……dry and Intellectual in approach.

2.    Entrepreneur:  Risk taker….. the initiator of the enterprise

3.    Business Person (either Owner or Manager): Is someone involved in a particular undertaking of activities, commercial or industrial, for the purpose of generating revenue from a combination of human, financial, and physical capital. In other words they manage risk… and yet “a Business Person doesn’t like risk!”

4.    Corporation: Governing authority……. In today’s market when dealing with corporations, we are really dealing with governments.

5.    Promoter: Somebody who tries to make a product or service more widely known or more successful…. “P.R. or propaganda”

6.    Marketer: Uses advertising and other promotional techniques to attract buyers for something when it is put on sale.

SABEF Struggledork ….. why so hot under the collar? They are only WORDS.

Because these words are debilitating!  They sap human energy and slow down HUMANS!

Humans are designed to be powerful at the core of our being! Yet simple words eat away at our power.

TO HAVE POWER

In my Opinion you must have

Clarity: The clearness of expression….There must be movement to experience the clarity.

Action: Movement towards the clarity to validate the clarity. The speed and intensity must be determined by intention.

INTENTION: What is the level of focus or the determination to act?

POWER: Now must have believability.

EXPECTATION: A confident belief or strong image that your outcome will appear. Your Clarity is real.

YOU NOW HAVE POWER…..

CLARITY/ACTION/INTENTION/EXPECTATION

Leave one word out……. and you will be

DEBILITATING YOUR POWER

What has this to do with Sales Struggledork?

Simply this……. A business must have the following elements to exist or it is not a business!

1.    Product or Service

2.    Customer

3.    And the customer must exchange MONEY or it is not a customer!!

I go a step further on the matter of a customer.

CUSTOMER vs USER………

I want to define what a real customer to my business is.

My definition of a customer:

·         The customer must do at least 12 transactions a year

·         The dollar value on each transaction must be at least $ 300.00 per- transaction or $3 600.00 per year. Without defining the number of transactions and stating the volume of the transactions, you can waste a lot of energy with the wrong companies.

If somebody/a company is not a customer, what are they? A user of our services.

I do business with all companies that want to use my company; the customer has to be worth the effort. A customer has more value than any gold you give me and I treat customers differently from users. I’m very clear on the matter….. I do not give a user a better price or any promotional offer to buy from our company. I am very direct that I want to do business with any one. I do have a Quality in what I do….. I want to be worthy to be the supplier of products and service and I work every day to add value to our customer’s base by constantly asking for and acting on feedback from the market place. We know that the only thing that matters is the perception of value in the mind of the customer.

Do you want a great business? Then care for your customer! Accept the feedback given by your customers and sales happen like magic. If you don’t understand that your customers want to be appreciated, you spend your life looking for a sale, hoping your next marketing campaign works.

I talk and meet customers every day and always ask; “Are you getting what you want from my company and how can I be better?” and finally, I say; “THANK YOU for your business”. THANK YOU is the most powerful of all marketing.  Appreciating and giving Gratitude…. Go figure…

Until next week….. live in POWER
